In a manufacturing company as large and distributed as Schaeffler, keeping employees informed and engaged—especially those on the factory floor—can be a real challenge. With thousands of team members spread across offices and production units in China, the need for a unified, accessible, and private communication platform became increasingly clear.

That’s where Fugu stepped in. Partnering with Schaeffler, we developed a dedicated WeChat Account tailored for internal communications—one that not only respects data privacy, but also builds culture, improves transparency, and makes every employee feel connected to the company’s mission.

More than half of Schaeffler’s employees in China work in production environments with limited access to traditional communication channels like intranet or email. This created a communication gap between corporate offices and the shop floor—resulting in delays, disengagement, and a lack of visibility into company culture and direction.

 

Schaeffler’s leadership identified a few key goals:

  • Share updates and strategic messages in a timely, inclusive way

  • Ensure data privacy and limit external visibility of internal content

Recognizing WeChat’s widespread adoption among Chinese users, Fugumobile leveraged the platform’s infrastructure to build a secure, company-exclusive WeChat Account for Schaeffler’s internal communication needs.

 

This wasn’t a repurposed marketing tool—it was designed from the ground up for internal use only, with functionality built specifically for the needs of both office and shop floor employees.

Employee-Only Access & Data Security

A top priority was privacy and control. The WeChat Account is:

  • Accessible only to authenticated Schaeffler employees
  • Disabled for content forwarding or download, protecting sensitive material
  • Designed to keep all communication within the company’s digital walls

 

An exception was made for location information, which can be shared externally for practical reasons such as visitor coordination.

The account serves as a go-to destination for all internal updates, including:

  • Strategy presentations and vision documents
  • Company news and milestone highlights
  • Staff stories, achievements, and community features
  • Videos and multimedia content promoting internal initiatives

 

These updates ensure employees across all levels stay aligned with company goals and values.
