Mobile gamers from two Indonesian provinces
participated in that country's first electronics game of
darts and walked away with game consoles as prizes.
The 256 top scorers selected from both provinces
after 30 days of the tournamnent were pitted against
each other for the quarter finals, semi finals and
eventually the finals.
The final rounds were held in Chatter Box Café, Taman
Anggrek, Jakarta, where the finalists gathered and
competed against each other in real time.
The
winner walked away with a Play Station 3, while the
other finalists received prizes like Nintendo Wii, Xbox
and PSP.
The tournament was conducted by leading
mobile entertainment provider in Indonesia--Mobiletren
in association with the largest telecom operator
Telkomsel.
The game and the tournament platform
was developed by Fugumobile, whose
Ravi Shankar Bose, VP-International Business said, “We
are thrilled with the success of the first ever mobile
gaming tournament held in Indonesia. This is an
excellent example of connected gaming which actually
works and with massive participation”
The
tournament was promoted through game magazine and flyers
which went to the subscribers along with their mobile
phone bills. Telkomsel
also sent SMS broadcasts informing its subscribers about
the tournament.
This sure beats the noisy atmosphere of an Irish pub.
But you still need to drink
responsibly!
