Indonesian
cellco Telkomsel and mobile entertainment
provider Mobiletren have staged Indoenesia’s
first mobile games tournament, with gamers
competing for a Playstation 3.
Gamers from Jabodetabek and Jabar provinces
spent 30 days of qualifying playing Paul Hageman
Darts Championship, a mobile darts game with
three modes of game play.
The game and the tournament platform were
developed by Fugumobile.
The 256 top scorers were selected from both
provinces and pitted against each other for the
quarter finals, semi finals and eventually the
finals, which were held in Chatter Box Café in
Jakarta, where the finalist gathered and
competed against each other in real time.
The winner walked away with a Play Station 3,
while the other finalists received prizes like
Nintendo Wii, Xbox and PSP.
The tournament was promoted through game
magazines and flyers which went to the
subscribers along with their mobile phone bills.
Telkomsel also sent SMS broadcasts informing its
subscribers about the
tournament.
